Hokkien Kongsi, Penang held their Phor Thor Festival on the 1st day of the 7th lunar month (corresponding to 7th August 2013) by holding a prayer ceremony at 11.00 a.m. This month-long Festival will be celebrated on a grand scale in Penang with Chinese operas and singing by local artistes in temples and commercial venues (especially markets) in Penang.

Hokkien Kongsi, Penang started the month-long Phor Thor Festival annually by holding prayers on the 1st day of the 7th lunar month, which will be followed by their annual dinner. This year they will be holding their 157th Anniversary Dinner on Saturday, 17th August 2013 at Zhonghua Restaurant, Cititel Hotel, Penang.
