Ban Ka Lan Festival 2015 – After Dusk

As the sun set over Snake Temple on the evening of Monday, 23rd February 2015, participants and spectators waited for the arrival of the Guest of Honour, Y.A.B. Tuan Lim Guan Eng, the Chief Minister of Penang.  The air was electric with anticipation as the hour drew nearer. There was promise of a great programme lined up for the spectators with the Beijing China Cultural Acrobatic Performance as the star attraction for the evening’s entertainment.

Ban Ka Lan Snake Temple Flame Watching Festival 2014

The Ban Ka Lan Snake Temple Flame Watching Festival 2014 will be held on Tuesday, 4th February 2014 (corresponding to the 5th day of the coming Chinese New Year).  The event is jointly organised by the Penang State Tourism Development & Culture, Hokkien Kongsi, Penang and Ban Ka Lan Snake Temple Residents Area Committee.

A Press Conference, chaired by Y.B. Danny Law of Penang State Tourism Development & Culture, was held at 10.30 a.m. in the Conference Room of Hokkien Kongsi, Penang at Snake Temple in Sungei Keluang.

It was attended by Trustees of Hokkien Kongsi, Penang; members of the Ban Ka Lan Snake Temple Residents Area Committee and press members.  The conference was given a briefing on the Programme for the evening of the Festival.

Ban Ka Lan Snake Festival 2013

The Chief Minister of Penang, Mr.  Lim Guan Eng arrived promptly at 6.20 p.m. to officiate the Ban Ka Lan Snake Festival 2013.  He was greeted by the usual lion dance, and on hand to greet him were members of the Joint Organising Committee and Trustees of Hokkien Kongsi, Penang.

He was then taken up to pay homage to Cheng Chooi Chor Soo Kong in the Snake Temple, before proceeding to the Indian Temple to pay his respects.  Then to the Main Stage Area for the official programme.
